VBS

What’s our vision?  Our vision and purpose for VBS is to fulfill the Great Commission.  The Great Commission is the command given to every believer and consequently every church to go into the world and make disciples.  (Matthew 28:18-20)

Who gave this command?  Jesus, Himself, commands all believers to evangelize the lost and spread the gospel.  We operate under obedience to Him alone.

What does it say?    And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matt. 28:18-20)

How is this done?  This is accomplished by the power of the Holy Spirit through prayer, study, and teaching and preaching and the Word of God to all people. New disciples are then brought into fellowship with a local body where they are baptized and further taught the gospel.

What is the gospel?  The gospel is the good news that Jesus died and rose so that sinners could have eternal life.  Through Christ’s perfection, the penalty for sin is removed and sinners are made forever righteous before God.

Why evangelize children?   Jesus said in Matthew 19:4, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” This indicates that the gospel is not only for adults but also for children who are able to comprehend its meaning.

What about follow up?  Our ultimate goal is to make disciples who will be joined to a local body.  Because of this, we seek to offer long-term discipleship for all students who attend our VBS.

What about parents?  We recognize the vital role parents play in the spiritual development of their children. While VBS is meant to teach children the gospel, we also seek to have a lasting impact on their parents and/or guardians.  For this purpose, parents are encouraged to attend segments of VBS and to involve their children in future events at the church, including Sunday School and Junior Church.

What Curriculum is used? We seek to use the most biblically faithful material along with visually appealing themes and decorum.  Our hope is to adorn the gospel with fun activities and artistic creativity.
