Our Position Statement
East Balsam’s Position Statement/ Statement of faith
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word, that the Spirit so guided the writers in recording the message, that it is the accurate and infallible revelation of God and His holy will: thus it is the perfect rule in all matters of faith and conduct.
We believe in the Trinity of the Godhead in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in God the Father, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, measureless in power; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; that He through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit saves men from sin and death.
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, fully man and fully God, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, sinless in His life, making atonement for the sin of the world by his substitutionary death on the cross. We believe He was buried, rose again bodily and ascended into Heaven where he perpetually intercedes for the saints until He shall personally and visibly return to earth according to the promise of the New Testament.
We believe in the Holy Spirit sent by the Lord Jesus Christ to reprove the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and to regenerate all who recognize guilt of sin and in repentance, receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; and to sanctify and comfort those who believe in Him.
We believe that all men are sinners but that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
We believe in the visible church- and assembly of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible confession of faith, and associated for worship, fellowship, and services.
We believe in the invisible church- a living spiritual body of which Jesus is the Head and of which all “born again” people are members.
We believe that every human being has opportunity of direct relations with God and is personally responsible to God alone in all matters of faith; that each church is independent and autonomous and must be free from any interference by any ecclesiastical authority, and we further believe that Church and State must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from the dictation and patronage of the other.
We believe that the ordinances of the New Testament are: Baptism by immersion of the believer in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; The Lord’s Supper to commemorate the death of Christ, to be preceded by self-examination on the part of each person to make sure that he is in a right fellowship with God and his fellow man.
